VISA® Purchases Made in a Foreign Country

When a VISA® purchase is made in a foreign country, the transaction amount is converted to U.S. dollars and adjusted by a 1% currency conversion fee (now called International Transaction Fee, ISA).
Effective April 4, 2008, Visa will charge 0.8% for international transactions that do not involve currency conversions.

The transaction amount is shown separately from the 1% transaction conversion fee for all international purchases, credit vouchers, and cash advances.  The new VISA® fee for international transactions that do not involve currency conversions will also appear separately from the transaction amount.

These fees are not being assessed by TFCU. The International Transaction Fee for converting the purchase amount to U.S. dollars has not changed. It just appears as more than one transaction/line item on your account and statement.  The fee for international transactions that do not involve currency conversions is a new fee.
